The first cannon that was made was very simple, but it was large and heavy, so it required several people to use it. The way to shoot it is just to light a small fire in the hole that has been given the fuse.
The disadvantage of this method is that it is difficult to keep the fire burning. Another way to use a cannon was to spin a metal wheel to produce sparks that would ignite the gunpowder.
After the discovery of the cannon, the use of firearms began to be known in a smaller and more practical form, namely the gun. It is said that the word “pistol” comes from the name of a city in Italy where pistols were made in the 15th century, called Pistoia.
In 1807, Alexander Forsyth introduced the percussion system. This system is a way of filling gunpowder through the muzzle of the gun by pressing it using a special tool.
Samuel Colt, a scientist from the United States, then succeeded in making an automatic pistol known as the Colt Paterson. In 1857, Horace Smith and Daniel Wesson succeeded in developing a revolver pistol that could use tabor bullets.
