Okewla –Construction of large buildings such as multi-storey buildings cannot be done haphazardly. There must be correct calculations as well as getting support from various aspects. One of them is the support of earth nails.
Maybe for Grameds who have never built large buildings such as office buildings or apartments, they will rarely hear the term earth nails. However, in fact, its existence has long been used as a special support to obtain the strength of a building being built.
Understanding Earth Ferns
As explained, earth nails can provide special support to multi-storey buildings. But what exactly are earth nails? Why is it always in the construction process of high-rise buildings or large-scale buildings?
An earth nail or pile is a pole that has the function of supporting perpendicular forces from the top of the building which will then transmit the pressure down the pile axis to the soil layer at the bottom.
Piles can usually be made of concrete or steel. Piles made of concrete are concrete piles. Meanwhile, steel piles are piles made of steel which are mostly cylindrical in shape.
In general, the shape of the pile is long, straight and the ends will mostly be pointed. Some people say that the piles are shaped like missiles. This shape is intended to enable the process of installing the piles directly into the earth.
Types of Earth Ferns
After Grameds knew the meaning and function of piles. So the next explanation is about the types themselves. Although earth nails have almost the same shape, namely rectangular or cylindrical.
However, sometimes there are several types of piles that you can use according to the needs of the building being built. Below is a review of several types of piles according to their function.
1. Concrete Earth NailsÂ
As the name suggests, concrete earth nails or Concrete Pile are made with concrete as the main material. Making concrete can be done through several processes. The first process is making concrete by casting in place.
Then there is also concrete making which is carried out in other places such as factories. Because there are several factories that are capable of making ready-to-use piles made from concrete. To date, concrete earth nails have several forms. Starting from round or cylindrical shapes and square or rectangular shapes.
2. Steel Earth NailsÂ
Next there are steel earth nails or steel piles. Usually the shape of this type of pile is shaped like a pipe. However, there is also steel that has a rectangular shape. Steel piles with a rectangular shape are usually used for certain constructions.
3. Wood Earth Nails
Lastly there are wooden earth nails or timber piles. Most of the uses of wooden piles are applied in the construction of stilt houses in Kalimantan and Sumatra. Apart from that, wooden earth nails are also often used in the construction process of fishermen’s houses in coastal areas of the sea or rivers.
The type of wood used to make this type of pile cannot be arbitrary. This is because the wood used must be hard and also resistant to soil weathering attacks. This is done so that the wooden piles are not easily damaged and can function as they should.
These are several types of earth nails that are still used in building construction today.
