Vacuum Cleaner Technology Was Created Since The 19th Century – JAKARTA – The first vacuum cleaner appeared in the 19th century. Hubert Cecil Booth had created his first vacuum cleaner company in England known as the British Vacuum Cleaner Company.

Reported from Hoover, shortly after Huberts there was William Henry Hoover who also experienced success in America and he made progress in the British market following Booth. Hoover’s vacuum cleaner in England became very successful and became something synonymous with vacuum cleaners.

Early British vacuum cleaners incorporated a cloth bag design, where the vacuum cleaner collected the dust in a bag. Once the bag was full, it could be emptied and reinstalled.

Unlike modern vacuum cleaners in the UK, it did not have more advanced filtration such as a motorized brush for more effective dust extraction.

After decades of the introduction of the vacuum cleaner, in fact, the vacuum cleaner in England was a luxury item that only the upper class could afford. It was only after World War II that it became a common item owned by the middle class.

Although vacuum cleaners in the UK were a luxury item throughout the 1930s and 1940s, the technology advanced tremendously and in 1952 Hoover launched the Constellation, a vacuum cleaner that could float like a Hovercraft. Hoover designed it to be placed in the middle of a room and could be adjusted by the user.

Almost 20 years after selling the vacuum cleaner in the UK, Hoover stopped production of the Constellation in 1975. As vacuum cleaners became more efficient and effective, by the 1980s there were many vacuum cleaners available in the UK and many had become collectors’ items.

The 1990s saw the introduction of the first bagless vacuum cleaner in the UK. Despite concerns about consumers being unprepared for the rather expensive price tag, the bagless vacuum cleaner became a phenomenal success in the UK.

Bagless vacuum cleaners are now the most popular choice in the UK over cylinder vacuum cleaners, as the powerful rotating brush helps to lift dust from carpets effectively. Meanwhile, demand for cylinder vacuum cleaners is increasing due to design innovations that can match the performance of bagless vacuum cleaners.
